A little about the Cancer

Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor, also know as DSRCT, is considered a childhood cancer that is predominantly found in boys and young adults. It is an extremely rare, highly aggressive cancer that is usually found as masses in the abdomen. Desmoplastic small round cell tumor is frequently misdiagnosed which is why the prognosis remains poor. This is an aggressive, rare, fast spreading tumor.

There is no standard protocol for treatment but it usually includes aggressive Chemotherapy, Radiation, and Surgery.

Luckily, it seems they have found and diagnosed it before it has spread to any other areas and is localized to just the 2 tumors, one by the spleen (18cm) and the lower one by the rectum (10cm). The first round of chemotherapy is underway at Oakland Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA. 3 days of aggressive chemotherapy and then hopefully after a few days back home before the next round of chemo.

Hi Cody,
My name is Lisa Hilbish and I live in Winnemucca. My daughter Kylie who is 12, was diagnosed with Pre-B Lymphoblastic Lymphoma last September. She is in her final phase of chemo now, but it will take another year and a half until she is finished. I know what your going through and how scary it is, but believe me, I know the power of prayer. So please know that Kylie and I and our whole family are praying for you and your family in this difficult time. Be strong and believe and you will get better.
